Uttar Pradesh is now divided into 75 (seventy-five percent) districts under 18 (eighteen) divisions. Districts are administered by District Magistrates, and the divisions are administered by the Divisional Commissioners. Districts are divided into administrative units like subdivisions and blocks, administered by SDO and BDO respectively. There is a three-tier structure of Panchayati Raj in the state. The nuclear unit is called Gram Panchayat, which is a Panchayat organization for the collection of villages. Block-level organizations are called Panchayat Samiti, and district-level organizations are given the name of Zilla Parishad.

Education and research in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh State Government takes considerable time to improve the state of education within the state. Public apathy is a major scenario in Uttar Pradesh and it is reflected in the state's education system. There are several major private schools and colleges, but the fees in these institutions are beyond the reach of the common people in Uttar Pradesh.

In recent times Uttar Pradesh has made remarkable progress in the field of education. 79.24% in literate males and 59.26% in Uttar Pradesh is possible because of the female literacy, as there are 8459 schools and 758 colleges in the state which provide higher education.

There are a total of 866,361 primary schools and 8,459 high schools in Uttar Pradesh. The UPA Government's effort is to disseminate education to the remote areas of the state, especially the villages of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh has more number of schools affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh Medium Education Council, also known as Uttar Pradesh Board.
